"O Lord, my heart is not lifted up; my eyes are not raised too high.
I do not occupy myself with things too great or too marvelous for me,
but I have calmed and quieted my soul.
Like a child quieted at its mother's breast, like a child that is quieted, is my soul.
O, Israel, hope in the Lord from this time forth and forever more."

This is my favorite Psalm, and one that helped me out while I was feeling very anxious and alone in the airport earlier.
ReplyDeleteI learned that Psalm for the first time during my third year of seminary (a year before you were born). I still don't know any expression of faith that is so real and so true to experience.
